Deconstructed Sketch #35

Back again with an entry for this week's Deconstructed Sketch. I have wanted to join in with this challenge for ages so here goes with my first attempt. Here is the sketch:

I have used MFT's Pure Innocence Stamp - Being Cute Is What I Do for my image and I have coloured this with Copics and paper pieced her clothes using My Mind's Eye - A Happy Heart designer papers. This has been matted on black cardstock and layered on more Happy Heart papers with black matting. The sentiment is from another Pure Innocence set - Merry Wishes stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink and layered on some black ribbon.

On the inside I punched out my sentiment from Pure Innocence' My Basket of Eggs set stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink and layered this with some Happy Heart paper punched with  my scallop oval punch. A strip of coordinating paper finishes off the inside.

Easel Cards

Just here with a quick post to show a couple of cards that I made with some friends at a recent card night. I waanted to show a fun fold so I couldn't go past an easel card!

For my first card I used a fun A La Mode image  - Time To Celebrate and coloured this with my Copics. I then die cut the image with an oval nestie and matted it on an Old Olive scalloped oval die cut. The background papers are from the Sugar Plum paper pad by Papertrey Ink and these have been adhered to an Old Olive layer. Some white ribbon was tied around the middle to cover the seam and the sentiment was stamped in Real Red ink. Finally this was added to my Kraft base.

The inside of my easel card was kept very simple by stamping my sentiment on some more Sugar Plum paper, punching it out with my oval punch and matting it on some Old Olive card punched with my Scalloped oval punch. This was adhered to the card on dimensionals to ensure the easel would sit correctly.

My next card follows exactly the same layout except I decided to work with a Pure Innocence image - Being Cute Is What I Do. I used Plum Pudding cardstock for my mats and stamped my sentiment in Old Olive ink. For this one I also decided to paper piece the top using some more Sugar Plum paper.

Excuse the blurry image of the inside! We had heaps of fun making these cards - I will be making more of these for sure!

Favourite Colour Combo

Hello,
I decided to pull out a set I have only inked up once - Birthday Balloon Jolinne - and it is so much fun to colour! I decided to enter this card into the Color Throwdown #144 challenge which uses these colours:


Orange and pink is my all time favourite colour combo, so I thought it would be fun to try and tackle this one with green added to the mix. I also decided to use MFT Sketch 22:

Here is my card:

My card base is Pumpkin Pie with a layer of Select White on top. I then used some of the gorgeous Cosmo Cricket DeLovely paper for my pink squares - this paper is seriously divine!!! I added a strip punched with my Apron Lace border punch and some ribbon I have been itching to use for months, but never had the right opportunity until now.  Finally I die cut a tag and stamped the Celebrate sentiment in Pumpkin Pie ink and tied it on with twine.

For my main image, I stamped Jolinne and coloured her with my Copics. After colouring her pants, I used my Colourless Blender to add some polka dots. I also stamped some tiny flowers from AnnaBelle Stamps Backgrounds By Design 1 and added these around her feet. I actually cut a couple of small slits alongside Jolinne's knee with my craft knife so that I could push a couple of the flowers behind her leg to give the card some more dimension. (This is clearer IRL!) The balloons were paper pieced with some Certainly Celery designer paper from Stampin' Up which has now retired. Finally I die cut my image with a circle nestie and then die cut a Blossom piece from Pumpkin Pie card.

On the inside, I kept it simple by stamping the Happy Birthday sentiment in Pumpkin Pie ink and adding a strip of DeLovely paper edged with the Apron Lace punch.

I will definately be using this colour combo again - such a fun and pretty combination!!

CSAYL Challenge - Use A Die

Hello,

This week's challenge over at CSAYL is to use a die cut as part of your main image. The winner of this week's challenge will have the opportunity to be a guest designer for a week in June.

For my card I added a layer of Cosmo Cricket DeLovely paper to a base of Kraft card.  I then die cut two clouds from my white layer and then added some more white cardstock behind the space left from my cloud diecuts. This extra piece had been run through my Cuttlebug with my Swiss Dots embossing folder and sprinkled with glitter and heat set.

I stamped my girl from Pure Innocence: Presents For You set in Tuxedo Black ink and coloured her with Copics and then paper pieced the coat and hat with more of the DeLovely paper. I stamped my sentiment from Holiday Button Bits in Tuxedo Black ink also. To create the grass, I used my MFT's grass die and then coloured the tips with a white gel pen and added some clear kindy glitz to make it look like snow. I used the same kindy glitz to add snow falling as well.

On the inside I inked up just the presents from the same Pure Innocence set, avoiding inking where the girl's hand is. I then used a black pen to hand draw the rest of the presents that weren't inked up. I die cut more grass and covered it in kindyglitz and added more snow on either side. The sentiment is also from Holiday Button Bits.

A Pop Of Colour

I am starting to find that I am really leaning more towards making clean and simple cards - every now and then I love to go a little vintage or add some lovely paper from my ever growing stash - but clean and simple just seems to be more my style. A little while ago I made a card with one of my Pure Innocence stamp sets here and I thought it would be fun to do the same with two more sets, adding just a pop of colour. The first set that I used was Being Cute Is What I Do and I chose to use Baja Breeze as my pop of colour:

I stamped my image in Tuxedo Black ink and lightly added shading with my C1 and C5 markers. I coloured her flower and hair ties with my BG72 marker and added some small flowers from AnnaBelle stamps Backgrounds By Design 1 set stamped in Baja Breeze ink. The cardstock used was Very Vanilla, Kraft and Baja Breeze. I used MFT's Banner Strip Die and Mini Alphabet set to stamp Happy and the Birthday sentiment is from PTI's Birthday Basics set. The inside uses a sentiment from Inside and Out Birthday and the same flower image.

For the second card I used Pure Innocence Love You With All My Heart with Kraft, Very Vanilla and Real Red.

Again, I stamped the image with Tuxedo Black ink and shaded with my C1 and C5 markers. I coloured the hair clip and heart with a Real Red Stampin Up marker and then stamped some random hearts around her feet with Real red ink. I layered some more hearts over the top that had been hand cut. The sentiment is from Daily Design Sentiments. The inside uses another sentiment from Inside and Out Birthday and some more hearts.

Colour Create Challenge #69 - Pink, Brown and Blue

Hi,

I hope everyone has had a lovely week leading up to Easter. I went camping for 5 days and it poured with rain for 4 of those days!! Still, it was great to get away and the kids had so much fun.

Today it is time for another Colour Create Challenge and this time the colours are pink, brown and blue with the optional extra of acetate or cracked glass technique. I have just purchased some clear cardstock, so I decided to go with that.

My card has a base of Aqua Mist which I scored along both the bottom and top and then die cut a circle window in the centre. I used Versamark and a lovely flower image from Imaginisce's Baby Powder collection to break up the plain cardstock and stamped my sentiment in Vintage Sepia ink using a sentiment from MFT's My Basket of Eggs set. The base and the sentiment were lightly inked with my Chamomile Tea Dye ink  and then a crochet flower was added with a Sweet Blush button.

I stamped my girl from the same MFT set in Tuxedo Black ink and coloured her with my copics and then paper pieced her dress and basket with some retired Stampin' Up paper. I die cut her and some clear cardstock with a larger circle die and then adhered them to the inside of the front of the card. I finished off the front by tying some chocolate striped baker's twine around the top between the score lines.

On the inside of the card I stamped the Happy Easter sentiment in Vintage Sepia ink and then added some more flowers that were stamped in Crumb Cake ink, stamped off once first. This was then die cut and adhered to the same designer paper.

Colour Create Challenge #66 - Pastels

Hello,
Today I am back with Colour Create's Challenge #66 which is to use pastels with the option of adding an Easter theme. Here is the Inspiration picture:

At first I thought - pastels - no worries! How wrong I was! It is so tempting to add a touch of bright ink or ribbon, but I had to restrain myself. Anyway here is my card:

I chose My Basket of Eggs stamp set from My Favorite Things. I used watercoloured my girl on watercolour paper and die cut two clouds. Behind these I used some pastel paper from my stash and then matted the panel on Bashful Blue cardstock. These layers were then machine stitched to add some texture. I finished this section off by adding some die cut grass and popping everything up on dimensionals.

The background was stamped with A Little Argyle stamp set in Certainly Celery ink and finished off with some pink twine and some pearls. This layer was also stitched and then all the layers were added to my white card base. I stamped the sentiment from My Basket of Eggs set in Bashful Blue ink and then cut it to form a banner.

I would also like to enter this card in Amber's Craft and Stuff Challenge - Use Die Cuts. There are some very clever entries in this challenge!

I have to apologise that I haven't finished the inside - this is something I NEVER leave unfinished, but I have been chasing my tail all week and have been trying hard to catch up and get this card finished. Pure Innocence Birthday

Hi,

Today I have a card which is a little different for me, but I really love the end result. I stumbled upon this absolutely gorgeous site here and fell in love with the sweet images. These illustrations remind me so much of books that I used to read as a child and I love their innocent whimsical style. I noticed that the designer often leaves the people black and white with a little shading and instantly I thought how much fun would it be to do this with my Pure Innocence stamps as they have such a cute whimsical style also. So here is my card:

I used some Kraft card for my base with Sweet Blush as my mat layer. I stamped my Pure Innocence - Basket of Eggs image on Vintage Cream cardstock in Memento ink and then used my C1 and C5 marker to add some shading on the girl and at her feet. I found a pretty flower stamp from AnnaBelle Stamps Backgrounds By Design 1 and stamped some flowers at her feet. I then stamped some more of the flowers and cut them out, covering up the eggs in the basket and layering them on the ground. A pop of colour was added by colouring the flowers in R81/R83 Copic Markers as well as the clip in her hair.

The Happy Birthday sentiment was stamped in Memento Ink and then I added some sweet blush butterflies with a paper pierced trail. To finish off the front (and its hard to see), I used my Clear Atyou Spica glitter pen to colour over the butterflies and flowers. On the inside of the card I stamped some more of the flowers, adding some cut flowers also. The sentiment was stamped in Memento Ink.

I really enjoyed creating this card and will be doing some more when I increase my Pure Innocence stamp collection! I'll be back with more in the next day or so and don't forget the Christmas Stampin' All Year Long challenges will be starting up this Friday 4th March so stay tuned!

Love You card

Well I'm sure there are many other mums who had a day like mine today - my little girl started Prep!! All weekend I didn't know how either of us were going to handle it as she is my very last child to start school and it seems like only yesterday we were bringing her home from hospital! But she was more than ready and even mentioned that we could drop her at the gate and she would be fine!!! Of course we couldn't let that happen but after just 5 mins in the classroom, she was asking us when we would leave!! So there were no tears from any of us and she had just the best day. Here is a pic of her in her new uniform along with her two big brothers:

Anyway onto today's card. I chose to enter my card into two challenges. Firstly the  Color Cue Challenge 11 with the colours here:

Then I also decided to enter My Favorite Things Wed Sketch Challenge MFTWSC3:

 For this card I used the MFT A la Mode stamp set - Key To My Heart. Wow! This image was so fun to work with and colour!

So here's a run down on how I put this together. Firstly I ran some white cardstock through my Cuttlebug with my Papertrey Ink Linen Impression Plate. I then inked up the edges with some Vintage Tea Chamomile ink. To the top of this layer I added some Pink Pirouhette cardstock which had been cut with my scallop border punch. This was then all added to a Kraft base.

The next layer used some Baja Breeze card with Kaisercraft paper. The main image was stamped in Memento ink and coloured with my Copics. I added some Glossy Accents to the key and some white spots to the dress with my white gel pen just to give it some texture. I then cut some hearts from the designer paper and scattered them around her feet and covered them with Glossy Accents also.

To follow the MFT sketch I hand cut a heart ( I have to get a large heart punch!) and then added some glitter with my Heat and Stick Powder. On the other side I used some Kraft ribbon looped underneath. The edges of this layer were inked with Chamomile ink and matted on some Baja Breeze card.

To create the sentiment, I used the Banner Strip Die with Mini Alphabet Letters. I had found some glittery felt in my stash for the strip and then used my hole punch to cut the circles before stamping the letters. I pierced a hole at each end and threaded through some Kraft coloured thread. This was then mounted on some Pink Pirouhette card  and the edges were sponged.

 On the inside I used the same paper as a border and inked the edges of the white insert. The sentiment is also from the Key To My Heart set and the heart border along the bottom is from Papertrey Ink's Background Basics Heart Set.

So there you go - I was very happy with the end result of this card as I love adding the little interest features. The banner die will be getting a major workout. I do hope I don't bore you with my step by step rundown - I just know that when I see a card I like on someone's blog, I really like to know how they put it together for ideas etc.
