AnnaBelle Stamps Blog Hop - All Things Grow

This is a really beautiful set to work with, so I really had fun experimenting with this card (and my new camera!!):

I started by scoring a line across my main panel and then stamping one of the images repeatedly with Crumb Cake ink. I then stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment in Versamark and Tuxedo Black ink and heat embossed with clear powder. Beside this I stamped one of the butterfly images in Real Red ink and carefully used my craft knife to cut along one side of his wings to give them a little lift. I sprinkled some glitter along the wings and also on the edge of the cut section. This panel was finished off by adding some more glitter with Scor Tape just below my scored line and then I matted it on to some True Black cardstock. I wrapped some red AnnaBelle ribbon around my cream card base twice and then adhered my main panel on top.

On the inside I stamped another sentiment from All Things Grow in Tuxedo Black ink and added a strip of ribbon and a line of glitter along the bottom, before mattiing on some more True Black cardstock. Finally I stamped the same butterfly in Crumb Cake ink, adhering this to my ribbon with Scor Tape.

CSAYL - Feelin' Sketchy

Hello,

Hope you have all had a great week - I am back at work now so life around here is busy, busy, busy! How about a sketch challenge? This week the challenge over at CSAYL is to create a card following the sketch below:

The winner of this week's challenge will have a chance to be a Guest Designer in August. Sorry about my image quality - I had trouble trying to take the blur out of the sketch picture, but hopefully you get the idea :). Here is my take on the sketch:

The image was stamped in Tuxedo Black ink using an image from Taylored Expressions' Wings Of Joy  set and coloured in with my Copics. I also stamped the birds a second time, cutting them out and popping them up on dimensionals. I added glitter for the snow and stamped the sentiment in Melon Mambo ink, matting this layer on some Rose Red card.

I used some De Lovely DP for my strip across the middle, using two scalloped borders cut from Aqua Mist cardstock as a mat. Some pink ribbon was adhered across the middle and some Kaisercraft pearls were added underneath the bottom scallop. All of this was then attached to some Whisper White card and attached to my Aqua Mist card base. A final scallop from Aqua Mist was added along the top.

To continue the same theme into the inside of the card, I added some more De Lovely paper which was edged with  my scallop punch and a thin strip of Aqua Mist card. The bird image also from Wings of Joy was stamped in Tuxedo Black ink and coloured with my Copics and the sentiment stamped in Melon Mambo ink.

Colour Create #75

Its time for another fortnightly challenge over at the Colour Create blog and our sponsor is Michelle's Scrapbooking:

This fortnight we have this gorgeous inspiration picture from Di:

The colours to use this week are cream, aqua and pale pink. I apologise in advance again if my photo hasn't come out the best. My laptop is in the shop for repairs and the graphics on my old desktop computer aren't the best - very dark and grainy, so when I go to edit my pics, I can't be sure how they really look on a decent computer.  Anyway, here's my card:

I used some Thrift Shop paper by October Afternoon and matted this on Aqua Mist cardstock, sewing the two layers together. I cut another smaller strip of Aqua Mist which I edged with my Fleur De Lis border punch. I then stamped a background image from Background Basics: Botanicals on some cream card in Baja Breeze ink and adhered this to the small Aqua Mist layer.

My image is from Vintage Picnic and I paper pieced some more of the Thrift Shop paper on the basket, colouring the rest with Copics. I then stamped the pink cloth image onto Sweet Blush cardstock and adhered this to the basket. Once I matted this layer onto a small Aqua Mist layer, I used my slot punch to punch out a small hole in the top and then I thread through some Vanilla seam binding.

The sentiment, also from Vintage Picnic was stamped in Baja Breeze ink and cut into a banner with some pink rhinestones added to each end. Finallly all the layers were added to some Very Vanilla cardstock.

The inside uses a sentiment form Inside & Out: Birthday, stamped in Baja Breeze ink and then I added a small strawberry image from Vintage Picnic which was coloured in with my Copics.

CSAYL- Heavy Metal Holiday

Time for another weekly Christmas Stampin' All Year Long challenge and this week its to use something metal on your creation - whether it be a tag, brad or any other embellishment. This week's sponsor is Kenny K:

I chose to work with the Santa digi and this was so much fun:

I usually struggle to use my Copics effectively but I really enjoyed using my growing stash of red markers to colour his suit.  Once I had finished colouring Santa, I added some Sparkly Fluff to his suit and beard and matted the image on some Pure Poppy cardstock.

For the background I used some retired Ski Slope paper which I adhered to my Pure Poppy base and added another design from the same pack for my red strip down the centre. I then matted a third design from the pack onto some Baja Breeze cardstock and tied some red ribbon around it. I adhered the Santa image on top and finished off the front by adding a metal edged tag to the bow. The sentiment and tree is a rub-on that I had in my stash.

I used another rubon for the inside and then added some more of the pretty Ski Slope paper as a border around the edge.

Say It in...Kraft, White and Green!

At AnnaBelle Stamps this week, the challenge is to say it in Kraft,White and Green. I chose to work with All Things Grow for this card:

I stamped the image twice in Certainly Celery ink and once in the centre in Old Olive ink and then stamped the sentiment from Ballerina Rose over the top. I finished off this panel by adding a punched Kraft butterfly and matting it on a Kraft panel. This was then mounted on foam dimensional tape and adhered to a white layer which had been scored at 1/2 inch intevals vertically. I tied some satin Kraft ribbon around the bottom, threading it through a white button. This layer was then adhered to a Kraft base which had been edged along the bottom with my Upper Crest border punch.

The inside has a sentiment stamped in Old Olive ink from the Acacia set and a tiny punched butterfly to finish it off. Please bear with me and my photos - I am experimenting each time as I am not happy with my shots taken at night as I don't have a light tent or great lamps and so I am slowly trying out my SLR camera outside (which I did on my last post) and am becoming very frustrated with the outcome. I have seen so many amazing blogs out there with fabulous photography, but it will take me a lot of practice unfortunately to have the same look! Anyway - here are the details for this week's challenge and be sure to have a look at the rest of the team's creations.

Baby Cards

Today I got to play along with my first ever Papertrey Paper Dolls Challenge and I couldn't pass this one up - create your own background on your card.

I chose to use the set - Background Basics: Botanicals for my baby card, stamping the small flower background strip repeatedly on Stampers Select White and Sweet Blush cardstock. On the Sweet Blush strip I coloured in the centres of each flower with my white gel pen. I ran a layer of white card through my Cuttlebug with my Linen impression plate, rounding the top corners. I then lightly adhered the three strips along the bottom, then machine stitched the joins together. I added a strip of white lace and a row of pink pearls to finish off the background.

For my main image, I stamped the onesie image from Bitty Baby Blessings in Melon Mambo ink on one of Papertrey's white adhesive sheets, adhered it onto some chipboard and cut both layers out. The same flower background stamp was used to stamp the onesie in Blush Blossom ink. I then added the sentiment over the top. The onesie was popped up on dimensionals on a die cut circle which had also been embossed with the Linen impression plate. Finally a Rose Red Blossoms 4 die cut was used to mat the image. All the layers were then matted on some Rose Red cardstock and adhered to a Kraft base.

The top corners of the inside layer were rounded and another scallop edged strip of Sweet Blush cardstock was added which had been stamped with the flower background strip. The sentiment was stamped in Melon Mambo ink.

I also needed a baby boy card so I again pulled out my Bitty Baby Blessings set for this card.

I started with a Kraft base and then added a layer of Lemon Zest which had been machine stitched to a white panel after embossing it with my Argyle impression plate. I cut a strip of Bashful Blue cardstock and edged it with my Upper Crest border punch and added a strip of blue ribbon along one side. I also stamped a different background stamp from Background Basics: Botanicals in Bashful Blue ink on white card and added this strip alongside my ribbon.

For my focal point I stamped the sail boat on white card which I punched out with my Curly Label punch. I then stamped the boat image again on Kraft cardstock and cut out the bottom piece, adhering it to my white image. I stamped the boat a third time onto Lemon Zest cardstock and cut out the sail, stamping the same background pattern acoss the sail. This was then also adhered to my white piece. Finally I hand cut a larger curly label shape from Kraft card as a mat. The sentiment was stamped in Bashful Blue ink and cut into a banner.

On the inside, I stamped the tiny sailboat repeatedly in Kraft ink along the bottom and added a sentiment stamped in Bashful Blue ink.

Here is my card:

I kept it very simple, stamping my Lil' Monster on some white cardstock which I adhered onto my white base. I coloured him in with Copics and paper pieced his balloon and shirt. For the strip down the side, I edged some Riding Hood Red cardstock with my Upper Crest border punch and then added two small strips stamped with the star backround from Backgrounds By Design 4 in Pumpkin Pie and So Saffron inks.

On the inside I stamped my sentiment in both Riding Hood Red ink and Bashful Blue. I stamped the balloon twice and paper pieced these also with the same DP.

CSAYL Challenge - She's Krafty!

This week at CSAYL, the challenge is to work with one of my all time fave colours - Kraft!! All you have to do is use Kraft cardstock somewhere on your creation this week! The sponsor of this week's challenge is Pink Cat Studio with the winner receiving 5 digis of their choice:

I used the Reindeer Ride digi for my card this week which is just the cutest stamp ever!!!

These are steps on how I created my card:

1. Fold Riding Hood Red cardstock in half and score.

2. Stamp background on bottom half of Kraft cardstock which has two top corners rounded, in Versamark and Cherry Cobbler ink and heat emboss with clear powder.

3. Adhere silver rhinestones to centres of some of the diamond images and also attach a row of rhinestones just above the top of the background.

4. Tie ribbon above the rhinestone strip into a bow.

5. Adhere Kraft layer to red base.

6. Print out Reindeer Ride image onto Vanilla cardstock and colour with Copics. Print image again onto Kraft cardstock and cut out the reindeer, paper piecing him onto the coloured layer. Colour reindeer's nose with red Atyou Spica glitter pen.

7. Apply some rubon snowflakes around the image and adhere on a red mat.

8. Use a two way glue pen to add a layer of gllue at the reindeer's feet and sprinkle on glitter.

9. Mount the image onto front of cardstock with foam mounting tape.

10. Apply Jingle Bells rubon onto vanilla cardstock and cut into a banner. Adhere this to front of card, using mounting tape in centre and glue dots close to end. Curl up ends of banner with a pencil.

On the inside, I simply adhered another layer of vanilla cardstock and stamped my diamond background pattern in Cherry Cobbler Ink. I applied another rubon sentiment and snowflake to finish it off.

Say It With..... Frames!!

Back with this week's challenge over at AnnaBelle Stamps!! This one had me stumped for a while - Say It With Frames! I decided to take this on literally and make the front of my card like a photo frame.

I used some old Apricot Appeal cardstock for my base and then stamped my image from the Helen's Party set onto white cardstock, coloured it with Copics and adhered this to the card front. Her trousers and shirt have been paper pieced - one of my favourite techniques.

To create the frame I cut a rectangle from some retired Groovy Guava cardstock and adhered my designer paper to the front. I then ruled up a rectangle which I cut out of both layers with my craft knife. All I can say is I seriously need to invest in some rectangle nesties, as this was such a fiddly job! I then attached the frame to the cardfront with some foam tape to add dimension and used some alphabet letters to spell out my 'happy...' sentiment. I finished off the front with some blue and white flowers with silver rhinestones in the centres.

I used more of the designer paper for the inside layering some white cardstock in the centre. Only the 'Birthday' sentiment was inked up, omitting 'Happy'. I also used the presents from the same set which I coloured in with Copics.
