CSAYL - Bring On The Bling! Pink Cat Studio Sponsor

Hi there,
Well I am very excited about this post as its my first contribution as a DT member for Christmas Stampin' All Year Long (CSAYL)! The challenges will be posted at the stroke of midnight on Fridays and will run for a week each time.
What better way to start than with a fantastic sponsor - Pink Cat Studio!

I have a number of their images - both digi and rubber and I love them all!!!! The prize for this week's challenge is 5 free digi images of your choice! And the challenge??? 'Bring on the Bling' - use as much bling as your little heart desires!

For this card I used the Lily Elf Carrying Tree image which was heaps of fun to work with. There were a lot of steps involved in making this card so I will list them below.

These are the steps:

1. Create card base from Aqua Mist cardstock.

2. Layer reverse side of  My Mind's Eye Jolly Snowmen paper onto white mat.

3. Print out digi image on white cardstock and colour with Copic markers. Stamp the image again to create a mask and cut out.

4.Die cut a small and large cloud image and place randomly on white cardstock as a mask and sponge on blue ink for sky. Repeat this around Lily, using the Lily mask. Cover the top two thirds of the white cardstock this way.

5. Using circle nestablility and white felt, die cut 2 circles and cut them both in two, off centre.  Attach Scor-tape to the rounded edges and sprinkle glitter. Attach the die cut circles along bottom of white cardstock, overlapping sllightly.

6. Punch out small snowflakes and randomly adhere under clouds with small silver rhinestones in the centre.

7. Colour over Lily's hat and tree baubles with Atyou Spica clear gllitter pen.

8. Stamp sentiment in Baja Breeze ink on Aqua Mist cardstock and cut to form a banner. Using some green thread, attach to layers with single stitch at each end to secure. Adhere all layers to card base.

Inside

9.  Randomly stamp small snowflake image in Baja Breeze ink (stamped off once to lighten a little) on white cardstock. Adhere a strip of My Mind's Eye reversed Jolly Snowmen paper. 

10. Die cut a large cloud from Aqua Mist cardstock and stamp sentiment in Baja Breeze ink. Adhere to white layer and attach to inside of card.

Phew!! I had the idea for this card in my head for days, but bringing it to fruition proved to be more challenging than I first thought. Anyway I am happy with how it turned out.

Just Add Ink 45

I am sorry it has been so long between posts - I have been having withdrawals from lack of time to make cards, but this time of year just seems to get busier and busier and with school finishing up in a week, its all happening!

I decided to have a go at the Just Add Ink Challenge 45:

I have had a stamp set from Papertrey Ink that I have been itching to ink up for ages - Scattered Showers. This set is so versatile and can be used for many different occasions, but I thought this time it would be lovely for a birthday card. I used Lemon Tart cardstock as my base and added a layer of Kraft. I then used my favourite paper I have - My Minds Eye Quite Contrary paper. It is so cute and the paper is so thick and sturdy. I used the reverse side of the paper for the bottom and the umbrella image for the top. I added some Riding Hood Red taffeta ribbon and a cream button tied with twine along the join.

The image was stamped with the flower umbrella from the Scattered Showers set on Very Vanilla cardstock. I stamped it in Riding Hood Red ink and then clear embossed it. I also added some glitter to the centre of the flowers which is much clearer in real life. I have tried to show a close up of the embossing.

The sentiment was stamped in Versafine Vintage Sepia ink as well as the umbrella handle. I used mixed fonts for the sentiment with Happy from Scattered Showers set and Birthday from Birthday Basics set. This layer was matted with Kraft cardstock. To add a little bling to the card, I used some silver rhinestones on the dotted paper.

The inside of the card also uses a sentiment from Scattered Showers stamped in Vintage Sepia on Very Vanilla card and matted on Kraft. I used the flower and leaf images from the Scattered Showers Additions set in Riding Hood Red and Baja Breeze ink and finished off the centre with a silver rhinestone.

Anyway, I had better go as I have a Christmas tree to finish putting up - I LOVE Christmas - my favourite time of the year!

Turning 5!

I have had a big week this week with my cousin getting married on Saturday and my daughter turning 5 on Thursday. I made a card for both occasions, however only took a photo of my daughter's card. She is currently going through a very girly phase liking everything pink and sparkly, so I had just the right stamp set for her.

Firstly I made the square card base using Kraft cardstock and stamped the top and bottom of the card using the Fancy Flourishes set from Papertrey Ink and Versamark ink. I then punched a scalloped border along the top of some Hibiscus Birst cardstock and added some Hibiscus Birst ribbon along the bottom. I used Quite Contrary paper from My Mind's Eye which I absolutely adore as it is so pretty and feminine.

The image was stamped using a combination of stamps from the Dress Up Lily set from Pink Cat Studio. Three different images were used and masked one on top of the other to create the final picture. I coloured the image with Copics and added glitter to her wings. The number 5 was created by colouring a white American Thicker number with a copic marker to match the cardstock. This is the beauty of copic markers - you can customise any embellishment to match other elements of the card.

Now I had better get myself organised to make a card for my son's 7th birthday which is only a week away!
