CSAYL - Inspiration Pic

This week is the final challenge for CSAYL for the year. It has been great as a member of the DT with all the other fantastic designers and to be able to create all the cards I need for Christmas plus more!!

Our sponsor this week is Kenny K and there will be 3 winners. The first will receive 3 free digis, the second will win 2 free digis and the third will be win 1 free digi!!

We have a gorgeous inspiration pic for you to work with this week:

I chose to work with the new sleigh digi for my card. This is such a fabulous image and I had so many wonderful ideas in my head but for some reason I had trouble carrying that out on my card. Anyway, here is my creation:

I used New Leaf cardstock for my base, cutting the front a little shorter than the back. I then edged a piece of white card with my Upper Crest border punch, stamped my Merry Christmas sentiment in New Leaf ink, added some silver rhinestones and adhered this to the bottom of my New Leaf front base.

My sleigh image was printed onto  more white cardstock and then coloured in with Copics. Finally some glitter was added to the sleigh and the ground. This layer was adhered to the front of my base, leaving a little strip of New Leaf base showing through. I finished off the front by adhering two pieces of ribbon to the joins and some more glitter to the edges of the card.

Very simple card, but I am just not that happy about it - I think I envisioned just using the green and silver from the inspiration photo, but I needed to add more colour to my sleigh image so this didn't happen.

Anyway, hop on over to the CSAYL blog for your chance to win this week's fabulous prize! I hope on your journey with us throughout the year you have been able to get a great start on your Christmas cards too!!

Colour Create #84 - PInk, Gold and White

Another fortnight has passed, so that means its time for our next Colour Create Challenge. Challenge #84 uses some classic colours -  Pink, Gold and White with the option of adding some bling to your card. This week's challenge is sponsored by Michelle's Scrapbooking:

and the winner will receive a $15 voucher to spend in the store!

Here is the inspiration pic to follow:

Even though I picked this fortnight's colours, when it came time to make my cards I really struggled, so therefore I have two creations as I couldn't decide which one I preferred! Here is my first:

I kept this one very CAS using some Stampers Select White for my base and stamping a small butterfly image from Butterfly Dreams in various shades of pink along the bottom. I then stamped my sentiment from Inside & Out: Birthday in Galaxy Gold Brilliance ink. (I have only just found this ink and it stamps perfectly and very crisply!!). I then tied some pink ribbon underneath the sentiment and added some Soft Pink rhinestones above this. Finally I rounded the corners.

On the inside, I used one of the smallest butterflies and again stamped this in varying pink shades. The sentiment also from Inside & Out: Birthday is stamped again in Galaxy Gold ink.

My next card uses gold as the main focal colour:

I used Pink Pirouette as my base and then added a layer of Stampers Select White. On my main white layer I stamped the small butterfly image from Butterfly Dreams in Galaxy Gold and embossed, adding some pink rhinestones between each.

My sentiment from an old Saleabration Set - Yummy, was stamped in Galaxy Gold and embossed. This was then matted on more Pink Pirouette card, some pink ribbon tied around the centre and the sentiment layer added to the card.

The inside uses just the flourish from the Yummy set stamped in Galaxy Gold ink. I left the inside blank as I wasn't sure yet whether this card will be a thank you card or a birthday card.

The rest of the team have used this colours perfectly so hop over to the Colour Create blog to check them out!!

CSAYL -Never Seen Ink

Its time for CSAYL's 2nd last challenge for the year! This week we have to make a creation using a set that hasn't seen ink before. I found this hard as just about every set has been inked up at least once but I decided to go with Papertrey Ink's Tiny Treats: Christmas as this is relatively new for me.

I was having some friends over for a cardmaking night this weekend, so I thought this set would be perfect for some pillow boxes as teacher gifts. I used the Stampin' Up pillow box die to cut my template and some Deck The Halls - 3 Bugs In A Rug DP. I punched out my image layer using my curly label punch and stamped my image and sentiment, before adding some glitter around the edges. This was matted on a coloured layer which was hand cut using the top layer as a guide.  Here are the 3 pillow boxes below:

There are some fabulous creations over at the CSAYL blog so be sure to have a look and enter the challenge. The top 10 faves will be posted on the blog at the end of the week!

RCC27 - Anything Goes

Hi!
I'm back today with a card that I have entered into the Ribbon Carousel challenge RCC27 -  Anything Goes.

I made this card for a friend and was wanting to use soft, pretty colours so I have slightly CASED Ashley Newell's card here. Here is my card:

I cut four different shades of pink card - Pink Pirouhette, Pretty In Pink, Regal Rose and Rose Red and adhered them to a white panel. Following this, I used the flower image from Stampin Up's Saleabration set - Bliss and stamped this repeatedly over the panel in Versamark ink. This layer was then adhered to a Kraft mat and some Fresh Snow ribbon looped around the middle. I punched out my sentiment panel using my Curly Label Punch and then hand cut a slightly larger Kraft border. I stamped my sentiment from the Trendy Trees set in Melon Mambo ink and highlighted this with some pink rhinestones. Both pieces of card were then adhered to my Fresh Snow ribbon. Finally, all of these layers were adhered to my white base.

I will have to try this gradient look again, as I love the effect it creates!

Back soon with more!!

CSAYL - It's My FAVE!

Only three more challenges to go over at CSAYL for the year!! This week, the challenge is to use your favourite sketch for your card or creation. The sponsor of the challenge is Pink Cat Studio  and the winner will receive 5 free digis!!

I chose to work with Santa for this challenge and I chose the current sketch over at AnnaBelle Stamps blog:

I printed my digi image onto white cardstock and coloured it in with my Copic markers. Some glitter was added to Santa's trim and some blue pearls added for bling and I matted this on some Spring Rain cardstock. My background layer was created with my Guidelines II stamp set using three motifs with Bashful Blue, Night of Navy and Riding Hood Red inks and this was then matted onto more Spring Rain card and some navy ribbon tied around the centre. Both layers were then matted onto my card base.

Again, I have kept the inside very simple. I stamped my sentiment from Stampin Up's Short and Sweet set in Night of Navy ink and the matching snowflakes in Bashful Blue ink. Some more blue pearls were added to the snowflake centres and the layer matted on some Spring Rain cardstock.

Join in this challenge over at CSAYL for your chance to win the 5 free digis and also get your Christmas card stash started if you haven't already!!

Colour Create # 83 - Turquoise, Deep Pink & Ivory

This week over at Colour Create we have some exciting news! We have 4 new DT members who are all super talented. Check out their blogs below:

Challenge #83 is to use Turquoise, Deep Pink and Ivory. Julie has given us this beautiful inspiration pic to work with:

3 November - Challenge 83 - Julie, Turquoise, Deep Pink, Ivory

Our sponsor this week is Bunny Zoe's Crafts:

The winner of this fortnight's challenge will win a gift voucher to spend in the store.
Here is my card:

I apologise for the quality of this picture - the card doesn't look this bright IRL! To create it, I used Rustic Cream for my base and a layer of Tempting Turquoise card as a mat. On my top layer of cream card, I lightly ruled up a grid with a pencil and stamped one of the flowers from Beautiful Blooms II repeatedly in Melon Mambo ink, then rubbed out the pencil lines. I added a strip of glitter along the top of my flower background and then some vanilla ribbon above this. I stamped my three large flowers from the Beautiful Blooms II set in Melon Mambo and Tempting Turquoise ink and then cut them out. I adhered these on top of my ribbon with a little Glossy Accents to make sure they didn't move and added a pink button again with some Glossy Accents. Finally I stamped my sentiment from Inside & Outside: Birthday using Tempting Turquoise ink.

I finished off the front with some random turquoise rhinestones.

The ladies on the team have created some beautiful cards this week so hop on over to the Colour Create blog to have a look!

Make It Monday #39

Hi,
I am back today with an entry for Papertrey Ink's current Make It Monday challenge #39 - Multi Step Background Building. I have always been a huge fan of creating my own backgrounds and with Papertrey's fabulous background stamps, I find I am using designer paper less and less. (I still try and make cards every now and then with the beautiful papers out there though, as I can't resist constantly buying more!)

I have kept my card quite simple, opting to use my background as just a focal strip along the bottom. First I cut, scored and edged my white base with my Apron Lace punch. I then used a separate piece of white card to stamp my background. I stamped my main flowers in plum using a small flower from Beautiful Blooms II. In the centre of each I stamped a small circle  from the same set using Baja Breeze ink. I then stamped my leaf image from Blooming Button Bits in New Leaf ink. Finally I stamped the tiny flower from Beautiful Blooms II in Baja Breeze ink. I covered an entire piece of cardstock with this background, but just cut a small portion to place on my card above a thin strip of New Leaf cardstock.

I tied some satin Plum Pudding ribbon around the join and stamped my sentiment from Acacia in Plum ink. Finally I added some green rhinestones to enhance the sentiment.

Back soon with a few more cards this week!
