Colour Create Challenge #80

Hello!
Today its Colour Create challenge time and Sharon has come up with a fab colour scheme - Lime Green, Aqua and White (with the optional extra challenge of adding a butterfly).

22 Sept - Challenge 80 - Sharon L Lime Aqua & White

As soon as I saw this colour combo, I knew what stamp set I wanted to use - Hanging Out by Papertrey Ink. OMG - this is my favourite stamp set at the moment! I had so much fun stamping and cutting out my little clothes (but I do  need to get the matching dies to save all that time fussy cutting!!) I see endless possibilities with this stamp set! Anyway, here is my take on the colours:

I used Tempting Turquoise as my base and then added a layer of white cardstock for  my mat. I stamped my grass along the bottom in Certainly Celery ink. I then used my small cloud die and sponged some Cyan pigment ink to create my sky. The technique for this I found here.  I definately need some practice at this but boy it was heaps of fun! The washing line was then stamped in Tuxedo Black ink as well as my sentiment. I stamped my three pieces of clothing in Tuxedo Black ink and coloured my overalls with B00/B02 Copics, adding some polka dots with my white gel pen. I stamped over the other two pieces with the solid t shirt and bib using Certainly Celery ink. Finally I lined the clouds with my Atyou Spica clear glitter pen. It was hard to get an effective photo of this, but this gives you an idea:

On the inside, I repeated the background and then stamped the sock and bib image, coloured these and fussy cut them before adhering on top of the grass. My sentiment is another from the Hanging Out set. Finally I added more glitter to the clouds with my clear Atyou spica glitter pen. After photographing and uploading my card, I realised that I forgot to add my buttefly for the challenge! Oops!

Take a look at the other inspiring creations for our fabulous design team over at Colour Create. You have two weeks to enter this challenge for a chance to win this fortnight's prize. Details can be found over at the Colour Create blog!

Baby Cards

Today I got to play along with my first ever Papertrey Paper Dolls Challenge and I couldn't pass this one up - create your own background on your card.

I chose to use the set - Background Basics: Botanicals for my baby card, stamping the small flower background strip repeatedly on Stampers Select White and Sweet Blush cardstock. On the Sweet Blush strip I coloured in the centres of each flower with my white gel pen. I ran a layer of white card through my Cuttlebug with my Linen impression plate, rounding the top corners. I then lightly adhered the three strips along the bottom, then machine stitched the joins together. I added a strip of white lace and a row of pink pearls to finish off the background.

For my main image, I stamped the onesie image from Bitty Baby Blessings in Melon Mambo ink on one of Papertrey's white adhesive sheets, adhered it onto some chipboard and cut both layers out. The same flower background stamp was used to stamp the onesie in Blush Blossom ink. I then added the sentiment over the top. The onesie was popped up on dimensionals on a die cut circle which had also been embossed with the Linen impression plate. Finally a Rose Red Blossoms 4 die cut was used to mat the image. All the layers were then matted on some Rose Red cardstock and adhered to a Kraft base.

The top corners of the inside layer were rounded and another scallop edged strip of Sweet Blush cardstock was added which had been stamped with the flower background strip. The sentiment was stamped in Melon Mambo ink.

I also needed a baby boy card so I again pulled out my Bitty Baby Blessings set for this card.

I started with a Kraft base and then added a layer of Lemon Zest which had been machine stitched to a white panel after embossing it with my Argyle impression plate. I cut a strip of Bashful Blue cardstock and edged it with my Upper Crest border punch and added a strip of blue ribbon along one side. I also stamped a different background stamp from Background Basics: Botanicals in Bashful Blue ink on white card and added this strip alongside my ribbon.

For my focal point I stamped the sail boat on white card which I punched out with my Curly Label punch. I then stamped the boat image again on Kraft cardstock and cut out the bottom piece, adhering it to my white image. I stamped the boat a third time onto Lemon Zest cardstock and cut out the sail, stamping the same background pattern acoss the sail. This was then also adhered to my white piece. Finally I hand cut a larger curly label shape from Kraft card as a mat. The sentiment was stamped in Bashful Blue ink and cut into a banner.

On the inside, I stamped the tiny sailboat repeatedly in Kraft ink along the bottom and added a sentiment stamped in Bashful Blue ink.

Thanks for looking!

Here is my card:

I chose to use the pram image which I coloured with my Copics and paper pieced the pram with some Cosmo Cricket DeLovely DP. This was then matted on some grey cardstock. For the base I used some white cardstock which I edged on the front with my Apron Lace punch. I then used some more of the DeLovely paper and tied around some olive ribbon to cover the seam. The main image was then laid on top and some pink rhinestones added on either side. I stamped the sentiment from Baby Joy in Melon Mambo ink on a tag die cut and tied this to the bow with some white twine. Finally I added a pink flower stamped with Backgrounds By Design 1 to the bow centre with a glue dot.

On the inside I combined a few Baby Joy sentiments and stamped them in Old Olive ink, matting this layer on some grey cardstock. Some more Old Olive and Melon Mambo flowers were added to this strip. Along the bottom I adhered some DeLovely paper that had been edged with my Apron Lace border punch.
I am entering this card in the Inkspirations Challenge #74 for this week:

Play Date Cafe Challenge #73

You might want to grab a cuppa to read this post - there is so much to share about this card! I am having a go at The Play Date Cafe's Challenge #73 which has the yummiest colour combo:

I would never think to use these colours together but they work so well. I have a new stamp set from Papertrey Ink that I have been itching to ink up - Bitty Baby Blessings, so I decided to use these colours to make a non-traditional baby card. Can I tell you that I had just about the most fun ever making this card - I love this stamp set and that liitle baby is tooooo cute!!!!

I will show you all the images (there are a few!!) and then list the steps on how I made it. You can cllick on the images to get a closer view.

Instructions
1. Make a square card base from Rose Red card. Use Apron Lace border punch to create a scallop border along the front.
2. Cut a square of white cardstock and use Scallop border punch to scallop the bottom edge. Paper pierce a cross stitch pattern along each scallop and then cross stitch with Kraft thread. Adhere this to the base.
3. Cut a smaller white square and stamp the pram image in Tuxedo Black ink and then add baby head peeking out of the hood.
4. Run this layer through Cuttlebug with Linen Impression Plate and then round the top right and bottom left corners.
5. Stamp the pram image again on Rose Red patterned paper (retired) and cut out the body of the pram. Pop this up on dimensionals on top of the original stamped image. Add clear spica glitter pen to baby's curl and the pram.
6. Adhere this white layer to some More Mustard DP - this is retired, but similar cardstock could be used.
7.  Die cut two cloud images, stamping one with 'Welcome baby' in Plum ink and running the other through the Cuttlebug with the Argyle Impression Plate. Use Quickie Glue Pen to apply a thin layer of glue around edges of clouds and dip in glitter. Adhere the argyle cloud to the white layer, and then pop up the sentiment cloud on dimensionals overlapping the other.
8. Tie some ribbon around the two layers, stitching a button to the bow centre.
9. Stamp the pram again onto some scrap white cardstock, colour the wheels grey with Copics, cut just the wheels out and then adhere to pram with dimensionals so they overlap the ribbon.

Inside
10. Mat some More Mustard DP on white cardstock and adhere both layers to inside of card.
11. Cut a square white layer and stamp ;Happy New Baby' in Plum Ink. Stamp the mini pram image in black ink on either side of sentiment and colour with Rose Red marker. Add some spots with white gel pen.
12. Run this layer through Cuttlebug with Argyle Impression Plate and round top right/bottom left corners.
13.. Pierce holes under sentiment and cross stitch with Kraft thread. Adhere this layer on to More Mustard layer in card.

Phew!! Finished! But boy did I have fun making it! I had that much fun that I decided to make another more traditional baby card:

Hope you liked the cards and I will be back this week with some more DT cards.

See ya!
