Make It Monday #39

Hi,
I am back today with an entry for Papertrey Ink's current Make It Monday challenge #39 - Multi Step Background Building. I have always been a huge fan of creating my own backgrounds and with Papertrey's fabulous background stamps, I find I am using designer paper less and less. (I still try and make cards every now and then with the beautiful papers out there though, as I can't resist constantly buying more!)

I have kept my card quite simple, opting to use my background as just a focal strip along the bottom. First I cut, scored and edged my white base with my Apron Lace punch. I then used a separate piece of white card to stamp my background. I stamped my main flowers in plum using a small flower from Beautiful Blooms II. In the centre of each I stamped a small circle  from the same set using Baja Breeze ink. I then stamped my leaf image from Blooming Button Bits in New Leaf ink. Finally I stamped the tiny flower from Beautiful Blooms II in Baja Breeze ink. I covered an entire piece of cardstock with this background, but just cut a small portion to place on my card above a thin strip of New Leaf cardstock.

I tied some satin Plum Pudding ribbon around the join and stamped my sentiment from Acacia in Plum ink. Finally I added some green rhinestones to enhance the sentiment.

Back soon with a few more cards this week!

  2. So pretty, Kerry! I like the way you only used part of the background and left the rest white. Simple and elegant. :)

  5. Love your card. The purple and green are great together. I hadn't thought of just doing a strip of background. Thanks for the pretty inspiration.
