Card No.6

Back with Card No. 6. I am entering this card in the December Sir Stampalot Challenge which is to use the bingo card below and choose three squares in a row and use that formula on your creation:


I chose to go with the bottom row and use ribbon, a tag and a punch on my card:

I used my corner punch to round the corners of my base and main layer. I then used a negative circle die cut to act as a reverse mask on my card front and used a tiny flower from Beautiful Blooms II to repeatedly stamp within the circle with Tempting Turquoise ink. I stamped the umbrella handle from Scattered Showers in Early Espresso ink.  I embossed the bottom of my main layer with my Elegant Bouquet embossing folder and then tied some brown and white twine above the join. This was then threaded through a die cut tag that was stamped with my Celebrate sentiment using Early Espresso ink before threading through a pink button. The main umbrella image was stamped in Melon Mambo on some spotted pink card and hand cut before being adhered with dimensionals above the umbrella handle.

I rounded the corners of my inside layer with my corner punch and then embossed the bottom again with my Elegant Bouquet folder. A thin strip of the pink spotted card was adhered above this and the sentiment from Scattered Showers was stamped in Early Espresso ink. To finish off the inside, I stamped the small flower randomly around the sentiment in Tempting Turquoise ink.

Card No. 5

Okay, I am at the half way mark - so here is card no. 5 of my gift set:

This is probably my favourite of the set - it took hours to make, but I love adding all the little details! First I used Pure Poppy card for my base and a layer of Kraft on top. For my main layer I used Rustic Cream cardstock and created my own background with stamps from Papertrey Ink's Round and Round Anniversary set and Beautiful Blooms II. I used Kraft, Old Olive and Real Red ink which I stamped off in each set of three flowers to get some variation in colour. Once I had finished my background I cut a circle out of the centre using my nesties and then cut a frame from Kraft cardstock again using nesties to edge the cut out circle. I cut some more Rustic Cream cardstock and stamped my sentiment from Inside and Out: Birthday in Old Olive ink and then adhered this behind the circle.

I used my scallop border punch to edge a thin strip of Kraft cardstock and adhered this at the bottom of my circle and added some Ripe Avocado ribbon on top. Finally I stamped three flowers from Beautiful Blooms II in Real Red ink, cut them out and then added some sparkle with my Red Atyou Spica glitter pen. These were added to the edge of the frame and the centre one popped up on dimensionals.

For the inside, I created the same background as a border and added a sentiment from Inside and Out: Birthday in Old Olive ink.

Card No.s 3 and 4

Back again with two more cards from my gift card set for Christmas. The first card uses a very simple black and white colour scheme with lots of embossing:

I used some True Black cardstock for my mat on top of my white base and then another layer of white that was edged with my Apron Lace border. Above the border I added a strip of glitter and then my black spotted ribbon. I stamped the flower stems from Blooming Button Bits and the flowers from Beautiful Blooms II. The sentiment was from Daily Design Sentiments. All the stamping involved using Versamark first, then stamping in Basic Black ink, followed by clear embossing powder.

On the inside I used a flower image from Imaginisce and a sentiment from Inside and Out: Birthday. Both of these were embossed also.

My next card involved a lot of background stamping to create my background paper.

To start with I stamped the dotted Argyle motif from A Little Argyle on my white cardstock with Kraft ink. I then stamped different images from the Basic Grey Blossom stamp set using Certainly Celery, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Pretty In Pink and Melon Mambo ink. Some Hibiscus Burst ribbon was tied around the centre and then this was matted on some Pretty in Pink cardstock and then on to my card base.

I die cut a small circle, then stamped my sentiment from Inside and Out Birthday ink Old Olive ink. This was then matted on a Pretty in Pink die cut using my Blossoms 3 die set. Finally some pink rhinestones were added below the sentiment.

The inside was kept very simple, just stamping another sentiment from Inside and Out: Birthday in Old Olive ink.

Card No. 2

Hello!
Back again with my second card in my gift sets. I was going to originally make a set of 10 cards all with the same design, but as usual I have decided to take on a mammoth task and come up with 10 different designs. Oh well, I have made 4 - only 6 to go! Here is card number 2:

This is probably the one that I am least happy with. I used Stampers Select White for my base and some old Kaisercraft paper for the bottom half. I cut some blue ribbon and looped it on either side along the join. To create my focal image, I die cut a circle from white cardstock and also a couple of grey circles. I then cut some hill shapes out of the grey cardstock and held them on my white circle to work out where to position my trees. I had to use my trusty Stamp-a-ma-jig to position the trunks of the trees and then the tree tops, with some light blue pigment ink and some darker blue rolled along the edges. I then straight stitched along the border of the hills. This was then matted on a black border die cut with my dizzy doily die. Finally I die cut a tag, stamped my sentiment and tied it to my doily border with some Twilley's blue thread.

On the inside I used some more of the pattterned paper along the bottom as a border and then stamped my sentiment and decorative motifs either side.

Card Marathon

Hi,
I will back on the blog a lot over the next week as I share cards I am making as part of a gift package for some family members. I am having a lot of trouble with my internet at the moment so I will slowly upload them before Christmas. Here is my first card using Lili of the Valley's Teddy Flower stamp image:

I used Kraft for my base and a layer of Lemon Zest card on top. I stamped my teddy image in Tuxedo Black ink and coloured him in with my Copics. Both clouds were die cut using my Papertrey cloud dies and the sentiment was stamped on the larger cloud using Early Espresso ink. I then ran them both through my Cuttlebug with my Linen impression plate and popped them up on dimensionals. I did edge the clouds with my clear glitter pen, but I couldn't capture this in my photos.

On the inside I decided to leave it blank with no message, however I stamped the butterflies from the Teddy Flower image repeatedly in the corner and coloured them in with Copics.

Colour Create #86 - Silver, Blue and White

Its time for the last Colour Create Challenge of the year and this one is perfect for Christmas - Silver, Blue and White. Here is the lovely inspiration pic, chosen by Sharon:

I decided to go Christmassy again as I have had heaps of cards to make for the ladies at work.

I have to apologise about the quality of this photo - the ink is much clear IRL, but no matter how I positioned my lights, I couldn't get a better picture. Anyhow, I edged my white base with my Apron Lace border punch and then punched two snowflakes down the right hand side. I used some blue and white Christmas paper and placed this behind the punched out snowflakes and then added a layer of white on the inside to cover the paper.  I stamped my sentiment with some silver ink and tied some white ribbon around the bottom. Finally I added a row of blue pearls above my ribbon.

On the inside, I stamped my sentiment again with some silver ink and then adhered the two snowflakes cut out of the card front to the corners.

Ribbon Carousel Challenge - RCC32

I have another challenge card to show today - this time for RCC32 using inspiration photos:

I just love these Christmassy colours and I thought this would be the perfect chance to try a technique I saw here. Here is my card:

I used Kraft for my base and my  main layer. I stamped my Joy sentiment from Wings of Joy in Versamark ink and then embossed with white powder. I then coloured the inside of the image with my Copic markers. This is so effective and I will be using this technique again! I applied a white Kaisercraft rubon along the bottom and then looped some Pure Poppy ribbon above this, sewing a white button on one side.

On the inside, I applied another strip of the same rubon and then cross stitched a border above using some red thread.  Finally I stamped my sentiment from Wings of Joy in Versamark ink and then embossed again with white powder.

Such a simple card to make, but I love the effect it creates!

Simon Says - Christmas Photomontage Inspiration Challenge

Back again,
I have been busy finishing off last minute cards for Christmas and needed some inspiration. As soon as I saw Simon Says Stamp Inspiration Pic for their latest challenge I was ready to go:

I was inspired by the wintery look of these photos - now even though we live in sunny Australia where there is no snow at Christmas, being born in England, I still remember those lovely white Christmases I used to have as a child. Here is my card:

I used Spring Rain cardstock for my base and then die cut some squares from snowflake paper which were then matted on some Stampers Select White card. I stamped my sentiment from Holiday Button Bits in Night of Navy ink and then cut this into a banner. My image from Holiday Button Bits was stamped twice, coloured with copics and then the snowman's head was cut from the second piece and adhered on top of my button. I used some Dazzling Diamonds glitter to create the snow and also finish off his hat. This was then die cut with a circle nestie and matted on some blue card die cut using my Blossom 3 die. To finish off the front, some white ribbon was adhered and then my image layered on top of this.

On the inside, I used another sentiment from Holiday Button Bits and then finished off with some more DP layered on a scalloped cardstock strip.

Just a couple of Christmas cards to go and then I am finished for the year!!

Jay Gee's Nook Challenge #14

Hi!

One day of school to go for the year and then 5 1/2 weeks holiday!! With all the crazy rushing around in the last couple of weeks for work and kids' dancing rehearsals, I will be so glad for a holiday and a chance to enjoy spending time with the kids just relaxing!

Anyway onto to my creation.  I have made a card to enter into the latest Jay Gee's Nook Challenge #14 which has a fabulous pinboard to draw inspiration from:

I have been loving the different Nordic backgrounds that are out in the stamping world and that is my take on the gorgeous pics above. Now I don't own any of those wonderful stamps, but I thought I might have a go at creating something similar with my Background Basics: Botanicals set.

I used some Stampers Select White card for my base and another piece for my main layer. I alternated two different stamps for my background using Cherry Cobbler ink and Kraft ink. I stamped my sentiment from Snow Swirled in Cherry Cobbler ink and then ran my main layer through my Cuttlebug with my Linen Impression Plate.  Some Kraft seam binding was tied around the middle and a Scarlet Jewel button sewn to the centre of my bow. Finally I rounded the corners on both the base and my top layer before adhering together.

On the inside I used the same stamps again to create my bottom border and another sentiment from Snow Swirled.

So a very simple card, but I love the two colours together and will definately have to play around with this background set a little more!

Colour Create #85 - Red, Green and White

Sorry I haven't been here much on the blog in the last couple of weeks - just taking a little time to catch up on preparations for Christmas, but I am glad to be back!! This week is time again for another Colour Create challenge and we are going traditional with Sylvia's choice of colours - red, green and white with the option of adding snowflakes:

Here is my take on these colours:

I chose to work with a Lili of the Valley image - Christmas Baubles which hasn't seen ink yet. I coloured the image with Copics and stamped my sentiment from Taylored Expressions' Wings of Joy in Always Artichoke ink. The border along the bottom was cut with my Apron Lace border punch from Real Red cardstock and then cut in half.  Finally the main layer was then matted on some more Real Red card and added to the Kraft base.

I added the snowflakes from Wings of Joy along the bottom of the inside layer in Tuxedo Black ink and coloured in with Copics. The sentiment was stamped in Always Artichoke ink.
